D-backs hit 4 early homers, cruise past Rockies

Jarrod Dyson homered on the second pitch of the game, one of three first-inning long balls for Arizona, and the Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 9-3 on Tuesday night in Denver.Christian Walker and Nick Ahmed also homered in the first, and David Peralta went deep in the second inning as the Diamondbacks jumped on Colorado emergency starter Jeff Hoffman.Kevin Ginkel (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings in relief for his first major league win.Hoffman was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque before the game to pitch in place of scheduled starter Jon Gray, who was scratched due to left ankle soreness.Dom Nunez homered in his major league debut, and Charlie Blackmon and Raimel Tapia both had three hits apiece for the Rockies, who have lost seven of their past eight.Dyson led off the game with his seventh homer, and Walker hit a two-run homer later in the first, his 21st round-tripper of the year. Jake Lamb followed with a single, and one out later, Ahmed delivered his 14th homer of the year to make it 5-0.The Rockies got a run back in the bottom of the inning on Daniel Murphy’s RBI single but left the bases loaded when Yonathan Daza struck out.Arizona tacked on two more runs in the second inning. Pitcher Zac Gallen led off with a single, and one out later, Peralta hit his 11th homer of the year, a shot to right, to make it 7-1.
