Report: Former Buckeyes assistant Smith arrested

Former Ohio State assistant football coach Zach Smith was arrested on Thursday afternoon at an elementary school in Ohio, according to multiple reports.Smith reportedly violated a civil protection order when he tried to pick up his children from the school.Smith was fired by Ohio State in July after ex-wife Courtney Smith sought a court order for protection against him, which led to media reports of other alleged domestic-violence incidents involving the coach.Zach Smith pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in October and had a criminal trespassing charge dropped in proceedings that stemmed from an alleged incident with his former wife earlier in 2018. He tweeted afterward that he and his ex-wife also agreed to a mutual protection order that runs through Oct. 10, 2021.According to Courtney Smith’s attorney, Zach Smith was not supposed to pick up the children until after 6 and at a different location. Courtney Smith was at the school at the time and was kept away from her ex-husband.
