Erick Fedde struck out 10 over seven strong innings; Masyn Winn tripled, doubled and scored twice; and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Colorado Rockies 5-2 in Denver on Wednesday night.Fedde (9-9), acquired from the Chicago White Sox before the trade deadline, had his best outing for St. Louis (81-77). He allowed one run on six hits and was one strikeout shy of his season high.Pedro Pages, Ivan Herrera and Thomas Saggese also had two hits apiece and Ryan Helsley got the final two outs with one pitch for his major league-leading 48th save for the Cardinals.Brenton Doyle homered and Aaron Schunk, Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Jones had two hits each for Colorado (60-98).St. Louis slowly built a lead with single runs in five straight innings. Saggese made it 1-0 with an RBI double in the second inning and Winn had a one-out triple and scored on Brendan Donovan’s sacrifice fly in the third.Colorado got one back in the bottom of the third but squandered a chance for more. Jacob Stallings led off with a single, Jones followed with a double to put runners on second and third and Schunk singled to left to bring home Stallings.But Schunk was thrown out at second on a steal attempt and Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt caught Blackmon’s liner and doubled up Jones at third to end the inning.
