With his team down 3-0 after 20 minutes, Gauthier started the Ducks’ rally at 1:35 of the second period. Ottawa’s Shane Pinto couldn’t control a pass in his own zone, and Gauthier collected it in front before lifting it over Johansson.
Caulfield cut the margin to 3-2 at 3:33. Johansson stopped Noah Warren’s point shot but couldn’t contain the rebound, and Caulfield was on the doorstep to slide it past the goalie’s right skate.
He tied it 3-3 on the power play at 19:18 when he tipped Tristan Luneau’s shot from high in the zone under Johansson’s stick.
Gauthier slid a wrist shot under Johansson’s left pad to put Anaheim ahead 4-3 during a 5-on-3 advantage at 1:50 of the third period. He completed the hat trick 36 seconds later with a one-timer from the bottom of the right circle.
Roger McQueen scored the Ducks’ fourth power-play goal of the game at 15:19, beating Johansson through the five-hole with a snap shot from the left circle.
Philip Tomasino gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead at 6:00 of the first period, deflecting Thomas Chabot’s shot from the left circle over Brossoit’s glove.
Giroux received a pass from Jake Sanderson along the right side at the Ducks’ blue line and carried it to the right circle for a snap shot that beat Brossoit inside the left post to make it 2-0 at 7:02
Michael Amadio increased the lead to 3-0 at 17:37 on a breakaway, skating along the right side, cutting to the middle in the zone and putting the puck past Brossoit glove side.
