The Washington Nationals agreed to a four-year, $23 million extension with outfielder Jacob Young, MLB.com reported Friday.
The deal includes an $8 million club option for a fifth season, according to the report. If the option is picked up, Young would be under contract through the 2031 campaign.
Young, 27, batted .252 and hit career highs of 10 homers and 50 RBIs last season. He stole 18 bases in 140 games.
Young is regarded as one of baseball’s top defensive center fielders and was a Gold Glove finalist in 2024 and 2025.
In parts of four seasons with the Nationals, Young has a .248 average with 15 homers, 129 RBIs and 79 steals.
Young was a seventh-round draft choice in 2021 out of Florida.
